Mount Redoubt

Mount Redoubt has erupted five times through the night, and is continuing to send ash into the atmosphere. More information and current updates on the status of the eruptions and seismic activity can be found at http://www.avo.alaska.edu/, which is the Alaska Volcano Observatory.

I got called by a friend around midnight last night about the eruption, and played phone tag with the rest of my grad school buddies and families through until about 3:00am. The ash cloud has not yet hit us, but I will stay tuned to the TV and radio for more updates. Any air intakes, whether on the boiler system or electronics, should be covered when the ash approaches; the fine glass and rock fragments can get sucked into the fans and seize them up. Please call my cell (507.828.5905) if you need to get a hold of me. I'll be taking pictures and keeping up on my observations, but as to what implications the impending ash has on my future online activities I've not a clue for now. Love to all, thanks for checking in to all of you who have so far.
